Dec. 5: Andy Friedman, a visual artist with a fondness for quoting Big Bill Broonzy, bills himself as a country blues performer. But Friedman is a master of the slide projector, not the slide guitar, and instead of singing he shows Polaroid pictures and pencil drawings. Using lengthy, extemporaneous monologues, he ties his images to the music he loves, elevating the interstitial ramblings of a wayward folk musician into an art form. The Wiyos, a trio of actual musicians, will perform after Friedman's set.
